We've had lots of submissions and we're pleased to say that we've extended the deadline until the 28th of March.
We're really chuffed to be offered the opportunity of holding a Craft Guerrilla Area at the Knitting & Stitching shows in London, Harrogate and Dublin! It's an unmissable chance to show your wares at this highly popular show. We've opened up the criteria and we're excepting all types of craft. If you're successful you'll go through to the next round and you might just win yourself a free stall space.

Here are the two lovelies which took over the Brighton Craft Guerrilla...Sam and Emma!
They're the two gorgeous craft lovin'ladies that took over from Angela Chick and friends. We were sad to see Angela go but we know she's on to a very successful venture and we wish her all the luck. BUT I'm pleased to say that by the power of TWITTER we found each other and now there really is no stopping these gals. Check out their blog for news, tutorials, updates and keep those peepers peeled for their events which kick off soon...I hear they're stitching to get going.

That's right...we're 2 years old! Join us at the usual venue, Ye Olde rose & Crown for a very special diy craft night. Apart from the usual craft ladened goodies or as we call them Craft Packs- we have the return of the TOMBOLA, cake (oh yes! You know we love cake!) and a special mini work shop courtesy of our lovely friend Katrine. She'll be showing you how to make your own decorative candle holders...tea lights are great but this gal can make them look PRETTY GORGEOUS!

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for six individual designer makers to exhibit with Craft Guerrilla at the Knitting and Stitching Show in London, Harrogate and Dublin in 2010.

Six different designer makers will be selected to take part for each of the shows in London, Harrogate and Dublin, making eighteen places offered in total. Please be sure to indicate the nearest show to your hometown in your submission.

How to Apply

If you would like to apply for this opportunity then please send us up to five photos of your work by 11th March 2010 together with 200 words telling us why you should have a stall at the Knitting and Stitching Show, paying attention to the three criteria detailed below.

There will be interviews and requests for samples of work for those who are successful in the first round and a decision will be made by end May 2010.

Please send the photos as .jpg files no larger than 1MB each together with your 200 words, your contact details and the location of your nearest Knitting and Stitching Show (London, Harrogate or Dublin) to craftguerrilla@googlemail.com.

Criteria for Submissions
The opportunity for a free stall at the Knitting and Stitching Show is for designer makers who have not yet managed to translate their talent and enthusiasm into much more than a hobby. If having a space at such a large event would enable you to take the next step into the craft business world then this may be your chance.

The criteria used to choose successful applicants are as follows:

Artistic merit that broadens and compliments that of the Craft Guerrilla collective.

The Craft Guerrilla collective is made up of a variety of designer makers. We particularly celebrate work that is unusual, high quality, hand made and above all has soul. We will be looking for designer makers who we feel would compliment this with their work and would stand out from the crowd at the rest of the show. Craft Guerrilla is offering the stalls at the Knitting and Stitching show to provide new blood and open up the show to a new audience. We do not want to simply replicate other stalls in the exhibition.

Whilst not having to be a member of Craft Guerrilla we feel it is important that applicants support our Manifesto and don’t contradict it in their work. A copy of our manifesto is provided below.
The ability of a stall at The Knitting and Stitching show to have a profound impact on the craft business of the applicant.

If you already have a successful craft business this probably isn’t for you. If you wouldn’t be able to build on the success of the show then this may not be for you either. We are looking for people who need such exposure to enable them to take the plunge into building up a craft business.

We're back in E17!

No,not in the BOY BAND but we're back to our old stomping ground: Walthamstow!
After a brief interlude we're back to our usual monthly crafty mischief. This is where it all began for us! Our new home is Ye Old Rose and Crown,off Hoe Street a hop and a skip from the TUBE. No excuses...we're on the Victoria Line and British Rail from Liverpool Street. That's a quick 15 minute train journey! Nothing by London standards.
So we got the WHERE and..."When?" you ask.
Every second Thursday of each month from 8pm to 11pm.
"How Much?" Of course we wouldn't dream of charging you entry. We want CRAFT to be for everyone: men,women and everything else ...as long as you have opposable thumbs we'll welcome you with open arms! There is a small charge per craft pack but you'll be taking something away that you've made and most importantly a SKILL you'll use time and time again!
However a few little changes... It's no longer "PUT THE NEEDLE ON THE RECORD" because we're not able to have DJs at the moment.
AWWWWW, I know we loved the pun too. The pub music is OK .Not too loud and in the background. BUT who knows, with time they might just let us!!!
Next NOVEMBER we'll be redoing our mini workshop and showing you how to harvest Tee shirt Yarn. A fab and inexpensive source of material which can be knitted or crocheted into a plethora of great things. Bring some unwanted tees - small weave with a little bit of stretch works best- and we'll show you how!
Remember that it's almost here.
CHRISTMAS....SHHHHHH, I know I think it's way too early to use the "C" word but...it does come around very quickly...you can come and make your own Chrimbo gifts or even buy a craft pack to give to a crafty mate which let's face it is even less work! We'll be happy to help you make and create. Also please feel free to bring any projects that have you in a loop and we'll try to help. All welcome.Knitting groups or individuals are most welcome. Come and enjoy the creative vibe, have a dram or two and chat to other like minded folk!

Hoot Hoot Hooray...here it is guys and gals...the Brighton Craft Guerrilla!
We're super proud to have this trio on board and I know they'll be rocking and crafting real soon. Stay tuned to find out when their first event takes place.
So here's a little introduction...meet your very own Brighton Craft Guerrilla:

"Between the three of us we illustrate.sew,cut.paste,make and live happily. We hope to bring this happiness and creativity to the public with our GUERRILLA acts of kindness. We will be hosting regular Crafternoons open to the public,and eventually organizing some Craft Markets. In between, we want to open pop up shops with in house workshops,do collaborative community art projects and generally build up a base of crafty counterparts around Brighton! With that,we hope to develop more and more project ideas and hopefully make something special happen.
We are going to use our Crafternoons, public art and ideas to help make craft more accessible. We want to show you that anyone can do it,no matter how big or small the project and we also hope to learn a bit from some crafters out thee!"

SEW LONG GOOD BUY

This August bank holiday the East London Craft Guerrilla boys and girls will be pitching up in the Beautiful Interiors shop garden for the last summer market of the season. It's been great but as we're subject to the elements we don't want to push our luck...the weather's been kind to us so far!
So that's it, Saturday the 29th of August is the grand finale and we're offering our craft loving shoppers some great deals at our Sew Long Good Buy event. As a special THANK YOU to the good folk of E17 we'd thought it was a good idea to show our appreciation to all that came and shopped through out our Summer Market season.
Lots of sale items and discounts*, a tombola, free cocktails (from 11 am) and best of all lashings of fun!
It's a village fair meets design show! Come wallow away the afternoon, pick up a crafty bargain and who knows ...if the figs on the tree are ready take some home and make some lovely jam! Just ask Debbie (behind the Tombola) and she'll pass on her family's secret jam recipe!

It's official the Craft Guerrilla have two more sister armies!
Edinburgh was the first to join and now we have a Brighton one too...
we think this is very good news!
Lots of things have been happening and as usual time is a bit of a luxury
so finding a moment to update our blog is not easy.
Our main blog is the East London Craft Guerrilla. It's the main and original Craft Guerrilla so we tend to post there on a regular basis.
But as the work load gets divided up between the core members hopefully there will be more
opportunities to dedicate my time to writing on this blog.
Take care my little crafty friends and keep those peepers peeled for news and events!!!

On it's way is the Edinburgh Craft Guerrilla blog! Coming to a computer near you real soon. The lovely crafty sisters have told us that it's almost up and running.

Put the Needle on the Record E17 D.I.Y. craft nights...still no venue but we're hopeful. The East London crew are searching the area looking for a friendly local that will embrace the hand made ethos with open arms! They're storming the streets, knitting needles in hand, sure that they'll find the perfect venue. Of course a search/pub crawl would possibly help! BUT fear not...if you're getting craft cold turkey you can catch them at their other events. Check out the events diary page.

Craft Guerrila Wants You!

We've been inundated with requests from others to follow the Craft Guerrilla manifesto! From Portugal,Sweden to Scotland fellow crafty creatures have all asked how to start their own! Ha ha ...it's very simple! You can email us and we'll tell you all about it!
Also we've been busy spreading the word.
After quite a large media exposure Craft Guerrilla is gaining momentum and recognition...even our craft-zine is being cataloged in the British Library! So we're hopeful that our little group will succeed not only in the craft world but in helping all you creative creatures by providing a community to link and cross promote independent designer makers, sister groups in other cities, share web traffic, and provide helpful information to other designer maker groups as well as individual designer makers.
Our main aim is to work within a creative community, thrive and grow as a collective that benefits each and every one person involved, share our creative know how,our experience and the ethos and value of hand made goods!
We've been invited to host D.I.Y. craft events in several venues and we're very much looking forward to it! Have a look at our events diary page and come along to see exactly what it is that we're doing.

We're looking for people that can make "Craft Packs" and host D.I.Y. Craft events with us. Preferably you're already familiar with us and we'd like to recruit people which have had at least a stall with us at one of our craft markets. Otherwise to apply you need to contact us via email and send us a few JPEG's of your work and a brief outline of what you make, your craft skills and what you think you can add to the Craft Nights. More details and T&C's will be emailed to you after you've contacted us. It's a chance to work with in a fun and creative community.
The Summer Craft Markets are also penciled in to begin on Saturday the 30th of May. Bookings will open soon. Any new designer makers must contact us and be pre selected before we accept you. All money from your "craft pack" and any sales goes directly to you. We will never take any commission from our fellow designer makers!

Our 1st birthday

It's official CRAFT GUERRILLA is one year old!
After 3 years of what seemed to be a pipe dream last March 2008 our little craft group started off as an answer to getting to grips with the world and it's unhealthy appetite with mass produced items and the waste it generates. Wow how things are a changing!
We're happy that every one's woken up and joined us on this exciting and creative endeavour! The feedback has been amazing and I get a feeling that we've even inspired a few others to start up their own workshops in the local area! With time we hope more people will join us and create their own. Wouldn't it be great to have a West London Craft Guerrilla, South London Craft Guerrilla and so forth? Maybe even a Tokyo Craft Guerrilla?! In time my good little crafty ones!!!
It all started off with our monthly craft markets but things have a funny way of coming together and evolving into even bigger and better projects. Because of the markets we've met many talented people and because of them things like the D.I.Y. craft nights have come to light and become the success they are today.
Join us for a celebration of what we hope will be the first of many more!
The first 50 people through the door will get a goody bag...all you early birds get a special crafty treat!
As usual we'll have some fun and easy craft projects, guest DJ's, vintage board games and impromptu workshops. This edition Lisa Margreet will be holding a "make do and mend" session. Bring along those slightly tatty items and she'll show you how to darn them back into life! Now is no time for chucking things out and because we're all feeling the pinch we're still not charging an entry fee! However there is a small charge per craft pack but you get a project and hopefully some new skill you can use in future. So weather you want to learn something new or brush up on a forgotten skill we hope you'll have a blast!
Also don't forget to bring your GUILTY PLEASURES...Your love to hate/hate to love records! The fab DJ duo Handsome Twins will spin them for you and you wont have to own up to it.

Becoming part of the Craft Guerrilla army is simple and we encourage others to join from other parts of the capital, country,UK and the world...
e mail a small introduction, what your aims and goals are and why you want to be part of the "army".
We will consider all and every proposal but please wait for a reply before you start things up.
What do you get out of it?
Well we'll be there along side you helping , giving invaluable advising and supporting you however we can.
Goes with out saying too that if you want to start something completely on your own that we're more then happy to help you...we like to share knowledge and our crafty know how with all creative people.
